50th ANIVERSARY of CED

1957-2007

SevillaNext year the CED or Spanish Detergency Committee will celebrate its Golden Anniversary in Seville.

Why Seville?

In 1956, a group of business people from the detergent and surfactant sectors set up the Spanish Detergency Commission, as part of the General Assembly of the Instituto de la Grasa de Sevilla, within the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas). In January 1957, in response to an invitation from the French Detergency Committee, the Spanish Detergency Committee was created and presented to society, and together with other national committees helped to establish the International Detergency Committee (Comité International de la Détergence - CID).

These pioneers were the highly enthusiastic driving force behind the project that is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Over these years many have helped this organisation to grow, providing it with the prestige it enjoys today at both national and international levels. To all of them we give our most sincere thanks.

We are now in the final steps of our fiftieth year; and we believe we must all join together in this celebration and hope to do so with the solemnity and importance that an event like this one deserves.

To this end, it has been agreed that the academic and social acts to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the CED will form part of the CED Annual Meeting 2007; and the perfect city for this event is the beautiful city of Seville, where the Committee has its roots.

Some dates to remember: 21st, 22nd and 23rd March 2007
A city: Seville
An event: the 37th CED Annual Meeting / 50th Anniversary of the CED

We look forward to seeing you in Seville in March 2007!
